A cultural journey on the bicycle
The Thuringia long-distance cycle track connects Eisenach, Gotha, Erfurt, Weimar, Jena, Gera and Altenburg - seven of the Thuringian cities which are most rich in terms of culture and history.
The long-distance cycle track “Thüringer Städtekette” (Thuringian chain of towns) is particularly suitable for those interested in culture and touring cyclists. It runs for about 225 km through Thuringia and connects the Wartburg city of Eisenach with the skat town of Altenburg. On this tour, historic city centres and well-known sights can be reached as stage destinations. All towns along the long-distance cycle track are connected to the Deutsche Bahn network. This means that it is also easily possible to cycle along individual sections and to combine them according to your own wishes.
