Martin's "dear city and parson's nest"
Martin Luther invites you on an enjoyable tour of "his dear city". He cannot only talk about anecdotes from his life, but he also heartily lampoons today's city life.
Martin Luther knows a lot to tell. Exuberantly, even enthusiastically, he leads the guests through his time in Eisenach. When he walked through the Nikolaitor for the first time, excitement seethed in him. He should go to the parish school St. Georgen! But he had to earn his own living - as a choirboy in the Kurrende, while he probably spent the night in a chamber of the school at first. Only afterwards did he find shelter with the Cotta family of councillors - today's Luther House - where he spent happy and formative years.
It became precarious when Luther was attacked years later in Altenstein - fortunately only in pretence - and taken to the Wartburg. He emotionally thinks back to the time when he, as Junker Jörg with a full beard, hair and chivalrous clothing, brooded over the translation of the New Testament.
